Corporal Henry Tynes



Henry Tynes was born in Alabama July 15 1828 to Timothy Tynes and according to family traditon "a Indian Princess." He moved his family to western Louisana in 1860 and joined the Company C of the 11th Batallion, Lousianna Infantry May 7, 1862. He is described as 34, blue eyes, black hair, six feet and one quarter of an inch tall, dark complexion, occupation farmer. He was listed as a deserter but returned to fight in the battle of Mansfield Lousianna. He died in Fanning County Texas January 20, 1875 in the Monkstown cemetary

History of the 975th F. A. Battalion

I received this history in the mail by one of the soldiers who fought with the 975 Field Artillery Battalion by his niece. Unfortunitly I have lost both their names. I scanned the history just as recieved it, except I added page 10 with a picture of James Tynes and the gun that he was an radio operator on. James,s death is on page 5 paragraph 7.
